Do you provide the architectural plans for my custom build or addition?

No, we do not provide in-house architectural or engineering services. We require all clients to come to us with completed, engineered architectural drawings that have been stamped by a licensed professional. Having these blueprints ready is mandatory before we can provide an accurate estimate, as they detail the precise structural load requirements, materials, and layout needed to price and build your project safely and up to local codes.

How long does a typical home addition take to build?

The timeline for a home addition varies drastically depending on the size and scope of the project. A simple single-room bump-out might take a few weeks, while a major two-story addition or custom garage can take several months. Once we review your engineered drawings, we will provide you with a realistic, phased timeline so you know exactly what to expect.

Can we live in our house while the addition is being built?

In most cases, yes! We do everything possible to minimize disruption to your daily life. For room additions or second-story pop-ups, we generally build the exterior "shell" of the new space first before breaking through the existing exterior wall to connect the two spaces. However, if the project requires major utility shutoffs or extensive interior remodeling, we will advise you ahead of time if temporary relocation is recommended.

Do you handle pulling the building permits?

Yes. Once you provide the engineered drawings and we agree on the contract, Michigan Exterior Pros will handle submitting your blueprints to the local municipality to pull all necessary building permits.
